The white edging on the petals can be
significant or not at all.
A difficulty with this variety is that in order
to get the rich dark color on the entire
petal you must let the lily get very ripe on
the bulb. When you let the lily get very
ripe on the bulb, many people will say
the lily is too open. So we often cut the
variety tighter which robs it of much of it's
initial color however in a few days the
color will come through strong..
So it can be a catch 22 for a grower.
